Hello... and a little introduction

Right, well, if you're reading this blog you probably know me already, or at least have seen me running frantically around a church somewhere in Winchester, probably trying pretty hard to keep up the facade of an organist in control... so hopefully not too much introduction is required.

Over the past two years I've been really thinking about what I'm going to do with my life, partly because that is what young people should do, but more because my the end of my degree was in sight and my parents were pretty agitated about my never leaving home.

I had quite a few options and, being a Law student who was constantly being bombarded with solicitors and barristers advertising the virtues of the legal life, I decided in the end to do something completely crazy...

GO AND LIVE IN A MONASTERY FOR A YEAR.

Well, technically it is a friary, but never mind.  If you know me, you're probably aware that I am exploring a vocation to ministry in the Church of England.  My Uni friends will also know I had a pretty long last two years of my undergraduate degree.  I have lots of reasons for going to Hilfield but I'm not really going to explore all that here.

Whether you have connections to Hilfield yourself and want to keep up with the gossip, or are exploring a vocation yourself, or are intrigued (as most of my friends and family are) as to what life in a monastic community would be like, or are simply a fellow frazzled stress addict wondering whether there is another world out there, I hope this blog will make interesting reading over the following year.

With less than a week to go before the train journey to Dorset,
God bless.

Bidding farewell to my college chapel and preparing for pastures new.
